Reilly's Baptism

Reilly turned 8 on August 2, 2010. He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on September 4, 2010. He was baptized on the same day as 4 other children from our ward (local congregation) who also turned 8 in August.

He was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church by his father. Reilly, who doesn't like water on his face, did awesome. We baptize by immersion, so everything must be under water or they need to do it again. Reilly did have to go through it twice, for that reason. He was a trooper. I am proud of my growing up son.

It was a lovely day. We even had some friends from Maryland, who have moved here, come to celebrate it with us.

Here's a few photos.

  1. I have to say that one of the biggest things I noticed-- next to the amazing smiles was that he is standing next to a, a, a, a GIRL! :) I miss Reilly so much. (and you and Jeff too.)

Michael had a hard time getting completely under when he was baptized too. He was so nervous about his face going under it took a few times. I'm pretty sure everyone in attendance was praying he could get the job done. :)

And last, the girls wore their pretty white dresses after? Jane wore hers to be baptized in... I was not sure how to work that! But baptismal dress seemed like what you were to be baptized in.. but it was too soggy (and de-fluffed) for pictures after!

  2. We miss you too. Reilly was *kind* enough to tell his new primary chorister that his old one was SO much better (meaning you...). The things that come out of his mouth. Alas.

Yes, he is standing next to several girls. He actually plays with some too. My cousin has 3 girls and a baby boy. He LOVES playing with the girls. It's quite amazing.

These pictures were taken before the baptisms. The girls weren't baptized in their pretty white dresses. Everyone wore those white jump suits.

  3. Ahhh. I see. It took a lot of dunking to get and her mammoth fluff under all at once... the giant white hairbow quickly got flicked off... Dave made her tuck the dress between her knees... It took some manuevering! :) Those Utah girls might have it figured out. ;)

Reilly is sweet. I was missing my old calling just tonight-- I had probably too much fun. More than a person should have at church on Sundays at least.
